Chapter Newsletter:

The NKBA continues to move the industry into the future and expand its reach by evolving with its members to provide new educational opportunities, as well as business, marketing and research tools.

From Bettyann Peck, Chapter President

I look forward to seeing each of you at our upcoming events! VP of Programs, Glenn Saltzer has lined up several new programs with locations throughout our region. November will see us at an appliance showroom affair in Norwalk; and for all of you again, a special Member Appreciation Event in New Haven in December! All of the Meeting notices will be posted on the NKBA web site, so make a point to send in your RSVP's!

The leadership of your Chapter is driven by Officers who volunteer! This year the NKBA has created an exciting new election process. For the first time, members have the opportunity to self-nominate directly through NKBA headquarters. This new directive should encourage more members to participate in the decision-making process. After years of the same procedure, in which officers were voted in only by those attending an election meeting, the NKBA has chosen to allow members the flexibility of voting from home! Any member seeking an officer position must submit a self-nomination form to NKBA headquarters for eligibility.

NKBA accepted self-nominations in September. Those names were sent to the chapter secretary and forwarded to the nominating committee. Once completed, the slate of officers will be sent by the secretary to NKBA headquarters and a ballot will be prepared listing all candidates for an officer position. Ballots will be posted online and voting by the membership will take place electronically or by fax. Members will be sent an email providing a link for you to vote! In an effort to be "green", no mailings will be sent out- only emails. Everyone is encouraged to get email addresses updated and make sure there is no block set up to getting important and up-to-date information.

In closing, I would like to again thank you all for your tireless efforts in making this Chapter strong and encourage everyone to make your voice heard in the election process!

I know that all of you will be as encouraged as I am at the expansion of our local chapter website, www.snekitchenbath.org under the direction of the Technologies and Communication committee.

I am looking forward with great enthusiasm to a fun, industrious, and profitable year for all of our members.

Best Wishes,
Bettyann Peck
President
